Modern home design is pretty much the only way to describe this 5,000 square foot custom ranch home with the butterfly roof in Windsor, Colorado.
The home offers big views of a natural arroyo, a golf course, and Colorado’s Front Range to the west. So, what better way to capture big views than with a big bank of windows running the entire length of the home.
A mid-level deck splits the exterior of the modern home, making it easier to go up to the elevated metal screen porch or down to the patio off the walkout basement (although with the 11-ft ceilings, it doesn’t feel like a basement).
We kept the modern feel warm with plenty of rich, dark woods. An urban tree farm slab becomes an ideal basement bar top and elm lines the wall behind the powder bath sink. Beetle kill pine and locally sourced stone provides the perfect balance between the sleek, modern white walls and the dark woodwork and metal railing accents.
