“The house Chandler built for us couldn’t be better. He is wonderful to work with. He’s both professional and friendly. The whole process could not have been better.” –David Meyer
Hammersmith Structures is a Northern Colorado luxury custom home builder and general contractor with more than 20 years in the home-building business. We’re based in Fort Collins, Colorado, but we’ve built custom homes in Loveland, Timnath, Windsor, Estes Park, and other communities throughout Northern Colorado.
We specialize in the design-build of luxury custom homes and extensive (think: move out of the house while we’re working) residential remodels.
Frequently, the custom projects we take on involve some complex aspect in the design or architecture that makes other home builders shy away. An indoor pool, a net-zero energy home with a geothermal system, a full-sized gym, a two-story waterfall that drops magically into a koi pond in the basement – we revel in these opportunities and they resulted in unique homes that their owners love.
Need a custom home builder for an ambitious project in the Fort Collins or Northern Colorado area that’s so far outside the box you’re not sure where to begin? Throw it out to us. We’ll take it on fearlessly. Learn more about us.
We want to ensure that working with your custom home builder from the beginning to the end of your project is a fun and seamless process for you, which is why we prefer to work as a design-build contractor. We team up in the beginning with the architect, the engineers, our in-house interior designer, and even some of the Fort Collins-area Hammersmith Structures sub-contractors to create a design-build team that we think will best understand and execute your ideas. This approach allows us as a group to collectively design the custom home you envision that corresponds with your budget and expectations. It also gives you the reassurance that we understand what you want.
We begin with the end in mind, understanding your must-haves and wants for your custom home. Then we plan for the build accordingly. The collaborative time we spend during this part of the process results in many project efficiencies without compromising the design or integrity of the final product. It also allows you and other members of the design-build team the opportunity to provide input throughout the creative process.
As part of this input, one of our goals as your custom home builder is to play devil’s advocate. Sometimes great aesthetic ideas will make their way into the plan, but they are inefficient or expensive to implement. We never want to stifle creativity but rather offer alternatives for a more effective solution to reduce costs or potential pitfalls down the line. Building material X might look great, but if we know it will need to be replaced after five years, why not use the similar, more durable material Y instead.
Bring us your magazine pages and Pinterest boards, and we’ll recommend a few Northern Colorado architects that might be a good fit for designing your custom home. Or bring your architect with plans in hand. Either way, we’ll work effectively as a team to bring your home to life. There’s no commitment to having a conversation, so let’s chat.
“We had the rare privilege of finding a custom home builder we wholeheartedly trusted and enjoyed. Chandler was an integral part of the design process and helped balance vision and construction with pragmatic advice, creative problem solving, and a side of levity. We started the process as client and contractor but finished with a remarkable house and a lifelong friend.”
