The full remodel on this dated, worn 1960s brick ranch brought it back to its midcentury modern glory with a 21st-century twist.
In this whole-house remodel, we stripped the walls to the studs and raised the roof over the kitchen, living room, and dining room, which made the home feel so much bigger and brighter on the inside. The new roof featured glulam beams and a tongue and groove ceiling that ran from the inside out, giving the main living area the quintessential mid-century feel.
At the other end of the home, we reconfigured the bedrooms and bathrooms and added a master retreat off the back. The addition of a third, tandem bay to the back of the garage on the opposite end gave the home a U-shape that perfectly framed the new in-ground pool and patio area.
Since we couldn’t raise the roof in the basement, we expanded the windows and added concrete and wood timber window wells with egress windows to bring in light and the feeling of volume.
Our homeowner had ideas for the bold pops of color and other aesthetic touches both inside and outside the home. Our design team worked with her to incorporate her ideas into the overall plan and bring them to life.
