Modern meets historic Old Town in this block conversion project completed under strict local historic preservation guidelines, especially for the exterior façade. The result is a mixed-use building with residential loft upstairs combined with two tenant finishes at the street level. The project involved gutting the upstairs to remove the original offices and create an open, common living space with multiple bedrooms. We refinished the original fir floors, filling in the gaps left by the original walls to create eclectic, geometric patterns. These combined beautifully with the minimalist, white Thermofoil kitchen cabinets. Skylights make the space bright and open, and the added steel deck of the back of the building makes it easy to enjoy the outdoors from the second floor.
