ABOUT THIS HOME

This full remodel began life as a mid-century modern California ranch home custom built in Fort Collins in 1960. It had great bones, but with no updates over the years, it wasn’t suited for a modern lifestyle.

We evaluated the positive aspects of the original home, then took it down to the studs and expanded the footprint to allow the kitchen to move from a dark corner in the basement to a bright spot in the center of the home. The resulting remodel embraced the aesthetic of mid-century modern with 21st-century must-haves unheard of in the 60s like walk-in closets, large pantry, five-piece master bath, built-in office workstation, and large windows that flood the home with daylight.

The home is mid-century modern in form. We refined the floorplan to work with today’s lifestyle and added warm wood and a timeless color palette. Touches like the custom walnut and steel room divider, exposed wood beams, warm custom walnut cabinetry, and little pops of color make the home warm and inviting while adding interest.

To add curb appeal while keeping the mid-century modern vibe, we mixed it up on the exterior between brushed hemlock CVG (clear vertical grain) siding and stucco accented by modern high-efficiency windows. Around back, three patios plus a deck off the master add multiple outdoor living options and capture the expansive views of the Fort Collins cityscape and beyond to Longs Peak.
