Kiwi Hill

A couple whose jobs caused them to constantly relocate were finally ready for their forever home in Northern Colorado. They found a few acres of land with great mountain views, then met with us. We helped them find the right architect for the home they wanted with a warm, rustic Colorado feel.

ABOUT THIS HOME

The home features plenty of local stone, heavy beams, and warm, reclaimed woods featured in custom woodwork: a fireplace mantel that came from a boxcar and durable, reclaimed hickory flooring that can withstand the traffic from the owners’ busy dogs. Walls painted white allow the dark-stained wood shiplap to pop and accentuate its rich character.

The couple loves to entertain, so expansive sliding glass doors open the home completely to the large, covered composite deck that flows down to the large patio below. An accordion window in the kitchen slides open to reveal a sit-up bar on the deck, making it easy to serve guests or pass food in and out.

The kitchen makes entertaining easy as well, with a 60-inch range and custom metal range hood made by local craftsmen at Raw Urth. While the owners opted against upper cabinets to keep the kitchen open, the adjacent butler’s pantry provides plenty of storage.

Other built-in conveniences include a full home automation system that controls lighting, audio, and video; lighted, heated mirrors in the master bath; and a heated garage complete with media system.
