Longs Lake House

Ten years ago, we opened up the floor plan and remodeled the kitchen of this 1970s ranch. But that project didn’t do much to make the most of the property and capture the amazing lake views. This time around, though, that was our mission.

ABOUT THIS HOME

An addition to the lake side of the house bumped out the living room. The huge windows and vaulted ceilings with rich wood beams and beetle kill tongue-and-grove now give the previously cramped room plenty of volume.

Decks grace both sides of the addition, each with an overhead trellis that extends from the roofline. Party lighting and a custom steel mesh rusted railing system that provides views through to the lake top off the project.

Although the additional square footage wasn’t substantial, it made a huge impact. From the inside, the home seems twice the size as it did before, and now the lake is now perfectly in view.
