A 1980’s era custom home with soaring ceilings in Cheyenne, Wyoming transformed into an exquisite retreat with the architectural detail the homeowners wanted.

ABOUT THIS HOME

With this full house remodel project, the homeowners purchased a 1980’s era custom home with soaring ceilings in Cheyenne, Wyoming with the goal to transform it into an exquisite retreat with the architectural detail they wanted.

We started by gutting the home down to the studs, remaining within the original footprint but reconfiguring the floorplan to create a better flow. We added and replaced windows and gave the home a new roof with metal facia for easy maintenance.

Because the ceilings are so tall, we added details to make them feel lower, such as adding extra rows of kitchen cabinets. A double-sided fireplace made of Hill Country limestone from Texas with schmeared mortar between the dining room and living room helped to add definition to what was previously a wide-open space.

The homeowners preferred a monochromatic color palette both inside and out. We replaced the pink stone on the exterior with more light-colored Hill Country Texas limestone and schmeared mortar combined with charcoal and cream-colored stucco for a complementary blend of texture and shade.

Inside, dark matte finishes with metallic accents on the plumbing fixtures and penny tile in the butler’s pantry keep the lines crisp, clean, and modern. The MTI mineral composite Japanese soaking tub with its velvety finish in the master bath helped lend to that aesthetic as well.

With no central air conditioning system and no place to run traditional ductwork, we installed a high velocity air conditioning system that uses sealed tubes rather than standard steel ducts to channel cooled air through the walls and out small vents in each room.

A golf and multi-sport simulator in the garage created the perfect area for recreation, but it needed to be comfortable. We ran heat and air conditioning to that area to keep the gaming environment pleasant no matter what the weather outside.
